Apple Sauce Cake with Raisins

  
 

 

  
 

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shorting
1 1/2 cups apple sauce
1 cup seeded raisens
1 cup currants
1/2 cup nut meats
1 1/2 teaspoons soda dissolved in apple sauce
1 teaspoon each cinnonon, nutmeg, salt
sifted with 2 1/2 cups flour

mix in order given and bake in slow oven 1 hr.

Sometimes Aunt Pit didn't tell us the exact oven temperatures. Here's a cheat sheet.
Cool oven 250°F
Slow oven 250–350°F
Moderate oven 350–375°F
Hot oven 375–450°F
